Dear Friends:
You will no doubt wonder at receiving this Prayer Letter from Toronto. We plan in future to send these letters from there. This service is especially welcome since both our typewriter and mimeograph have been giving trouble and the time and effort saved us can be well used in other ways.
Hachinohe is a long narrow city stretching over five miles along the coast. The Christians with which we fellowship come from widely scattered areas throughout the city. This has always been a problem concerning meetings since some because of the distance cannot always attend our regular meetings, others who are not, well seldom attend. The Lord has led into what seems a good solution. Beginning this month three homes have opened to us for ‘cottage meetings.’ We hope to enter one more home next month. Counting our regular Saturday and Sunday weekly meetings these three monthly meetings will mean that we have a witness in five different areas of the city. We praise the Lord for these opportunities since there is real possibility of reaching unsaved family members and neighbors in each area. What encourages us most is that the Christians themselves are quite enthused with this type of witness and will be helping with this ministry. Pray with us that we might see fruit through these ‘cottage meetings’. We meet in the following homes monthly:
We fellowship irregularly at the Iwafuji home (farmers). The daughter is a keen believer; though improving from a long illness is still unable to leave the house. Pray that the father who is interested will be willing to set aside a regular time at least once a month for a cottage meeting.
Mr. Komura (fisherman) for whom you have been praying now seems to be believing. He is bashful and finds public testimony and prayer difficult but the fact that he has on his own bought Christian literature and distributes it to homes in his area indicates that he is earnest in following the Lord. Continue to pray for him.
Mr. Enomoto our most faithful fisherman who has been so effective as a fisher of men has just discovered that he has a rather serious form of tuberculosis and will require a long period of treatment. Pray that in some way the Lord will be glorified through this trial.
Continually pray for new contacts. The Lord is giving us some.
Lorraine our two year old seems to be recovering favourably from bronchial pneumonia. We shall have to be careful with her for a while. Louise and I have profited from a series of treatments given by a missionary Chiropractor. Though we don’t like to, sometimes, we must admit that we are not as young as we used to be! On the whole though, our children especially have enjoyed very good health this winter.
We trust you will be encouraged in your praying to see that the Lord is working in answer to the united prayer of His children.
Sincerely yours,
Lea and Louise Little
